- Chicago - ShoreBank Corporation, America’s first and leading community development and environmental banking company, announced today that Timothy Rand, a Chicago entrepreneur and civic leader, has been elected as a member of the Board of Directors for ShoreBank, a subsidiary of the holding company. “Mr. Rand will be an excellent addition to our board,” said Ron Grzywinski, ShoreBank Corporation, Chairman and cofounder. “His business acumen, management experience and extensive record of community leadership will be great assets as we position ShoreBank for continued growth and work to extend our impact within the community,” Mr. Rand is the founder and majority owner of Midway Airport Concessionaires at Chicago’s Midway International Airport. When the company started in 1989 it was the airport’s only food and beverage concessions management company. In 2002, it received the contract to help redevelop the newly reconfigured concession area. Under Mr. Rand’s leadership, the company built six new restaurants and improved approximately 6,300 square-feet of retail space at the airport. The company now owns and operates 12 restaurants at Midway Airport. In addition, he is a principal of Airport Restaurant Management, a food and beverage concessions management company, and an investor in the Casino Queen, the Chicago Signature Services, LLC, which operates hospitality and banquet services at Navy Pier and McCormick Place. Mr. Rand grew up in the family’s retail and wholesale liquor business, Midway Wholesalers, one of the few remaining independent beverage wholesalers on Chicago’s South Side which is still owned by other members of the Rand family. Mr. Rand is one of several local business leaders who co-founded the annual Chicago Football Classic, which stresses the importance of education to African-American students and supports historically African-American colleges and universities. His community service and civic activities involve organizations whose mission embraces education. They include: the Chicago Urban League, Make a Wish Foundation, Operation PUSH, the DuSable Museum of African American History, and the Council on Chicago Public School Partnerships. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University (Carbondale, IL) and resides in Chicago’s Kenwood neighborhood. |
