Grossinger City Autoplex Opens

Chicago, IL—At a time when many General Motors dealerships are closing their doors across the nation, Illinois’ Grossinger Auto Group has found itself expanding. The new Grossinger City Autoplex near North and Clybourn it the first new construction in the state for General Motors and one of only six in the country.  The new facility employs over 100 people-nearly doubling its city staff.

The 400,000 square foot facility took nearly four years of planning and construction, and has become a true 21^st century dealership by adding customer-friendly amenities, hybrid models, and efforts to make the facility environment-friendly.

Thee facility expects to earn the Silver Certification under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for New Construction Version 2.2 program established by the U.S. Green Building Council.  Grossinger City Autoplex reused 95% of the existing structure (that was underutilized) and near public transportation. The building uses efficient lighting to reduce energy used, new low-flow fixtures to reduce water usage by 30%, low-impact materials, and a filtration system to improve air quality.

Grossinger also offers clients something to do as they wait for car services and paperwork. The new facility has a full-service café and restaurant, shoe shine, large plasma televisions, laptops to use, children’s rooms with chalkboards and games, and even an on-site manicurist. Scion, a vehicle known for its array of accessories and customizable models, has a 46-inch touch screen flat screen in its showroom (the first one in the nation) that allows customers to check out the different accessories and features on every model.

Grossinger City Autoplex has showrooms for Chevrolet, Cadillac, Scion, and Toyota, which are full of hybrid models including an Escalade, Highlander, Camry, Tahoe, and the ever-popular 2010 Toyota Prius which is known for the best mileage out of any hybrid.
